The key VC qualities that Great Entrepreneurs look for

I ran this simple question on twitter : “what key qualities do entrepreneurs look for in a VC ?”.  Here is what came back from entrepreneurs, most of them established names with hands-on VC experience.  Trust was very clearly the top term.  The order is my own and attempts to reflect frequency, but there is no doubt that entrepreneurs, first and foremost, seek a trusted relationship with a transparent partner who feels has got their back.  I wonder how well we score on what entrepreneurs care most about…

  • Trust
  • Honesty
  • Authenticity
  • Integrity
  • Transparency
  • Consistency, being even keeled, sense of perspective
  • Empathy
  • Level of engagement, accessibility
  • Pragmatism & realism
  • Smarts
  • Thoughtfulness
  • Speed
  • Contacts and network
  • Experience
  • Entrepreneurial experience
  • Genuine ability to add value
  • Sense of humour
  • Vigilance
  • Discipline
  • Punctuality
  • Money
  • Prestige
